  1. Hello Lina, I like your reaction about the article because you mentioned many factors which are fundamental in our teaching and learning life; for instance, I agree with you when you mentioned that:

1- teaching a language is more than teaching grammar but it is about learning to communicate.
2- There are many ways to communicate (not only speaking and writing) and we (as teachers) should let our students to use the ones they prefer.
3- For getting better results, you must engage students in lessons based on their contexts and cultures. We must be a guide in the process of learning.

In connection with the above, you support the previously with the experience you had with your students. In fact, it is amazing because you demonstrated significant results and production showing that learners feel engaged when they are not only working with projects based on their environment, contexts, and culture, but also when giving them the opportunity to express themselves in different ways in order to communicate while using different devices and/or tools. In that sense, you developed many skills in your students, not only speaking, writing, listening, and reading, but also sense of belonging and consciousness about their contexts and ways for expressing about them. You did a good job Lina!

  2. Hi Lina, I consider that your reaction to the article is very appropriate and you mentioned some very interesting and important points. To me, First, second and third-generation projects were brand-new concepts but at the same time, they caught my attention and interest because they make so much sense and we, as teachers, have to start developing them as a whole and not isolated. When students work on projects and use their immediate context tasks and learning turn into something more meaningful and it goes beyond if students feel that their work can make an impact on society.
Teaching grammar is important as you said but there are other important things we usually put aside. In the place I am currently teaching, we focus on making students think through inductive and deductive reasoning and these steps take students to a new path where they use everything at hand to produce knowledge, and that way of teaching is connected to what you were saying.
Finally, you told us about your understanding of Multimodal Pedagogies and to be honest, I had to go to the internet to have a better and clearer understanding of what that implies and how it works. I have to say that I found a video that explains easily what it is and how it works for students.

    1. Hi Silvio, hope you are good. I'm glad you found interesting the aspects I mentioned. About projects, as I mentioned on the video they are really meaningful for students and they engaged them a lot! About your experience, I consider it is a great idea to work on "making students think" because in that way we let them be part of the process and it is better for them.
      Have a great day!
